We wanted to share a little bit of the Shafer’s story, because while we are a heating and cooling brand, we are first and foremost, a family.
Our owner, Mike Shafer, spent time in the Navy Reserves and then found his way to Connelley Trade School. That launched him into his HVAC career and he founded Shafer’s Heating & Air Conditioning out of his basement in 1973. He married his wife, Sheree, a few years later and they began their family.
Their eldest son, Sean, actually went on his first service call just hours after being born, on the family’s way home from the hospital!
It was no surprise that he took an interest in the family business early on and began helping his dad with service calls in his teen years. After graduating from high school, Sean received an A.S. in business and completed the HVAC program at Triangle Technical School in Pittsburgh.
In 2016, Sean became president of the company, allowing Mike and Sheree some much needed free time to enjoy on their boat.
The Shafer legacy doesn’t stop with Sean either. His son, Aidan Shafer, the third generation, is now part of our team as an Apprentice, carrying forward what his grandfather started and his father continued.
Shafer’s has grown to include more than 30 employees and a fleet of 20 vehicles. We serve the heating and air conditioning needs of customers throughout Armstrong, Allegheny, Butler, Indiana and Westmoreland Counties.

Meet our office team! The friendly, organized professionals who answer your calls, schedule your appointments and make sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.
Sean Shafer is the Owner (a.k.a. Bossman). He loves to golf, fish, and travel with his family. Sean also really enjoys giving back to his community in any way he can. He likes to socialize and make friends; he could talk to you for hours!
Matt Angert is our General Manager. Matt has been with Shafer’s for four years, and when he’s not on the job, you’ll probably find him trying out a new restaurant or planning a trip to a new location.
Dana Reesman is our Controller. She joined the Shafer’s team five years ago and absolutely loves working here. Dana also enjoys weekends with her family at her camp in Tionesta, sitting around the fire and listening to good music. Her motto, “life is good!”
Roy Carney is our Commercial Estimator/Project Manager. He enjoys going to the beach and if you see Roy, he’s most likely got a Red Bull in his hand.
Chelsea Febinger is our Dispatcher in Kittanning. Chelsea originally joined Shafer’s in 2021. She enjoys coffee, running and spending time with her two daughters and husband.
Emily Berry is our Dispatcher in Butler. Emily joined the Shafer’s team in March 2025 and brings a creative eye to everything she does. Outside of work, she’s a devoted cat mom and volunteers her free time grooming horses.
Harry Brink is our Install Manager. He started at Shafer’s in 1999. When he heads home, he’s greeted by Tyson and Trudy, his two French bulldogs. And if you want to make Harry’s day? Suggest Mexican for lunch.
Steve Reeher is our Service Manager. He’s been with Shafer’s for two years and in his spare time, you can find him cooking a new dish in the kitchen and spending time with family.
Bob McGuire is our Comfort Advisor. He enjoys spending time with his Maine Coon cats and grandkids.
Brian Harclerode is our Parts/Warranty Specialist. He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling to the mountains and relaxing on the weekends.
Aidan Shafer is an Apprentice who, joining in his father’s footsteps, has been at Shafer’s since birth. He does a little bit of everything here at Shafer’s: from installs, to tune ups, to marketing and management. Outside of work, Aidan enjoys spending time with his family, friends, and fiancé.
Brooke Fatta is our Marketing Coordinator. Brooke joined the Shafer’s team in December 2025 as a marketing intern and has hit the ground running. She’s currently working toward her degree at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, with graduation on the horizon in December 2026. When she’s not crafting content, she’s dreaming about, or actually at, a beach somewhere.
Miranda Montgomery is our Administrative Assistant. She joined the Shafer’s team in March and enjoys drinking iced coffee and spending time with her husband and two boys. Miranda also enjoys traveling to Maryland to visit her family.

And we continually send our NATE Certified Technicians to workshops and quality improvement seminars to provide the most current and effective service for you.
